Jeff Irons joins General Excavating's Communications Divison

We are pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Irons as Manager for General Excavating’s OSP Communications and Trenchless Construction divisions. With Jeff’s formal training from Pennsylvania School of Technology, Villanova University, and PMI Institute, and 30-years of field experience, we are confident that his talents will help General Excavating remain a leader in communication construction.  Jeff has been involved with numerous telecommunication infrastructure projects for many years including cable installation and removal projects.  Jeff's background is a perfect fit for the services already offered by General Excavating.  Jeff was asked to share some thoughts about the new opportunities presented at General Excavating and what he has to offer to clients.
Q: What did you see at General Excavating that made this feel like a good fit for your skills?
A: The level of service offered by GE is really unique for the industry.  I have worked in the construction field for a long time at a few different places and just really feel like this company does it the “right” way.  It starts up front by giving clients an honest assessment of what it will take to build the project.  If problems come up, they are addressed in a professional manner.  General Excavating works hard to find solutions that work for all.
Q: What past project experience do you have and how will it help in your new role?
A: I’ve been involved with numerous telecommunication infrastructure projects the last several years for clients like AT&T, Verizon, and Google, in addition to several other telephone companies.  I’ve done cable installation and removal projects and managed work in urban and rural settings.  Most recently, I’ve been in charge of securing and managing the design/build of fiber network projects. I have found out quickly that General Excavating is a very diverse company in terms of the work they build and the clients they work for.  Seems to me that the tougher the work, the better GE is at getting the job done.
Q: How about downtime, what do you do when you’re not at work?
A: I have a family that keeps me hopping, love to play golf when time permits, and enjoy the outdoors.
Jeff can be reached at or by cell phone at (402) 326-2580 and can help provide budget numbers, answer construction questions, or work up a quote on your next OSP Communications project.  Additionally, Jeff leads General Excavating’s directional boring as well as hydro excavation services. He has managed many trenchless projects for clients including general contractors, municipalities, mechanical contractors, engineers, electrical contractors, and private developers. Jeff’s experience in project planning, meeting deadlines, and high quality of work will help ensure the continued success of trenchless construction at GE.
We are excited about the addition of Jeff Irons to the General Excavating team and look forward to continuing to serve as YOUR “UNDERGROUND” PARTNER.
