University of Nebraska-Lincoln    City Campus Utility Plant

City Campus Utility Plant is one of the oldest buildings at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  Over the years it has undergone a variety of improvements all designed to help the plant provide heating and cooling more efficiently throughout the campus.  Recently, General Excavating began work on the latest modification which called for the removal and replacement of two existing 300,000 gallon cast in place fuel oil tanks with three 30,000 gallon fiberglass double wall tanks and the associated site work.  The project, designed by Olsson Associates, will help the plant meet today's environmental and industry standards as well as provide options for fueling in case of an emergency.  General Excavating's environmental division has completed a number of fuel system projects throughout the Midwest for public and private owners.
