Scope: General Excavating used directional boring to install six 1 ¼-inch innerducts along north 70th street from Leighton to Adams including a short run to the west on Adams street. Hydro excavation was utilized to locate existing utilities and other underground encumbrances. The project will help serve the City of Lincoln’s growing needs for upgraded traffic signals and future communication needs.

Scope: Working for Verizon, General Excavating used a vibratory plow to install approximately 18,000 feet of the 2-inch HDPE duct while horizontal directional drilling was utilized to construct almost 3,500 feet of conduit. Installation on a fiber project includes burying the conduit, blowing a string through, pulling the fiber, and then splicing the fiber. The fiber from the old route was pulled and put on reels for reuse on other Verizon projects. The construction of hand holes, splice pits, concrete replacement, and site restoration were other important components of the project.

Scope: Working along Highway 6 near Lincoln, a 3-man vibratory plow crew and two 2-man bore crews completed the nearly 18,000 feet of fiber optic installation across 216 accurately located utilities. Roadways were horizontally bored and vacuum excavation was used to locate existing utilities. Other components of the job included placement of hand holes, pedestals, site restoration and associated work.

Scope: Replacement of approximately 17,000 feet of water main throughout the city. Directional boring was used to install the pipe after all existing utilities were located by means of vacuum excavation. The trenchless method of construction saved the Village of Ceresco time and money by reducing restoration costs and avoiding road closures.
