Scope: The University of Nebraska Medical Center Jones and 39th Street Utilities Expansion is another example of hydronic piping projects completed by General Excavating throughout the area. General Excavating assisted on the construction of steam and chilled water, vaults, and associated work as a subcontractor to Grunwald Mechanical. This project will extend UNMC's Central Utility Plant's ability to serve the new Sterile Processing Facility and potential growth beyond.

Scope: The Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center at UNMC is designed to be one of the nation's most comprehensive cancer centers. Working as a subcontractor to the Kiewit Building Group, General Excavating's scope of work included the construction of sanitary sewer, storm sewer, excavation for hydronic piping, pedestrian tunnel, electrical duct bank and all associated work. This project was recognized for contruction excellence at the 2016 AGC Build Nebraska Awards Event.

Scope: The Central Renewable Energy System Project captures effluent from the City of Lincoln's Theresa Street Wastewater Treatmwent Facility normally discharged into Salt Creek. Through a series of pumps, pipes, and valves, this system will send the treated water to Innovation Campus to be used to heat and cool the buildings currently under construction. General Excavating installed over 10,000' of 30" ductile iron pipe, valves and appertenant work.

Scope: Construction of steam and condensate lines, steam vaults, and associated work. General Excavating proposed precast manholes in lieu of cast in place to accelerate the construction schedule which limited impact on university students and city traffic. General Excavating also utilized directional boring of 14th street instead of open cutting which limited the closure of an important campus roadway.

Scope: General Excavating worked with the Omaha Public Power District on the expansion of existing substations in Nebraska City and Omaha and on the construction of new substations in Papillion and Gretna. Precision concrete work is one of the primary components on these projects as pier foundations are augered, steel baskets placed, anchor bolts set, concrete poured and finished to within 1/8" of compliance. Other work included building the foundations for buswork, transformers, breakers, installing cable trench, manholes, and associated work.

Scope: Construction of nearly 13,000 feet of water mains, 11,000 feet of sanitary sewer mains, site restoration, and associated work. Nearly 3,000 feet of the installation was at depths of 18 to 26 feet.

Scope: The Lower Platte South Natural Resources District Stevens Creek Capital Improvement Projects #3 and #4, specified constructing a number of rock grade control structures, channel stabilization features, live stake plantings, site restoration and associated work. This work was designed to improve the hydraulic performance of Stevens Creek.
