The Forest City Recreation Area (formerly the WP-4 Reservoir Project) in Gretna, NE, is now open!
General Excavating partnered with the Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District, HDR, JEO, the City of Gretna, and Sarpy County to construct the reservoir and deliver site improvements that enhance both flood protection and community recreation.
Our team completed demolition of an existing lift station, improvements to an existing lift station, construction of a new lift station, and infrastructure work along Schram Road. These upgrades were all designed to enhance stormwater management, water quality, and public safety.
In addition to the reservoir’s critical flood-control functions, the project created new amenities for the community that include trails, a floating ADA compliant kayak launch, a primitive kayak and canoe launch, a wooden fishing pier, other fishing areas, a picnic shelter, and enhanced habitat for local wildlife.
General Excavating is proud to have played a role in building a project that not only reduces flood risk but also provides long-term environmental and recreational benefits for Gretna and the surrounding area.
