City of Lincoln “N” Street: North Brownfields Remediation

Lincoln, NE- Development in Lincoln’s West Haymarket continues full speed ahead as parking structures, office buildings, restaurants, and living spaces spring from the ground at a pace hard to imagine. General Excavating won a competitive bid and received approval from the City of Lincoln/Joint Public Agency in coordination with the Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality to remediate contamination at the former Jaylynn and Alter properties near 6th and N streets. Working with environmental consultants, Benesch and Olsson Associates, General Excavating along with Gana Trucking removed nearly 11,000 tons of contaminated soil from the former coal gasification plant and restored the site for future redevelopment projects.
