Infrastructure improvement projects come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. In the case of the City of Lincoln’s North 70th Street Traffic Signal Improvements Project, the color is orange as in the six 1¼-inch color coded innerducts currently being installed along north 70th street by General Excavating. Working as a subcontractor to Commonwealth Electric Company, General Excavating is utilizing hydro excavation to locate existing utilities and other underground encumbrances. Directional boring is being used to install the innerduct along north 70th street from Leighton to Adams including a short run on Adams Street heading west one block. Trenchless construction helps minimize disruptions on one of the city’s busiest streets. The project will help serve the City of Lincoln’s growing needs for upgraded traffic signals and future communication needs.
